The fall feast days and blood moon are coming up in September and October.
September 25 – Rosh Hashana/Feast of Trumpets
October 4 – Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement
October 9-15 – Sukkot/Feast of Tabernacles [On October 10, the 2nd of the four blood moons will be visible. The 1st blood moon occurred on April 15, 2014 at Passover, the 3rd blood moon will be visible on Passover, April 4, 2015 and the last blood moon will be visible on September 28, 2015 at next year’s Feast of Trumpets.]
The Feast of Trumpets occurs on the first day of Tishri (September 25). This is the seventh month on the Hebrew calendar. The shofar or ram’s horn is blown on this day. The feast is discussed in Leviticus 23:24 and Numbers 29:1.The Feast is the 4th of 7 feasts. The first four have already been fulfilled. The 1st feast (Passover) was fulfilled by Jesus’ death on the cross. The 2nd feast (Feast of Unleavened Bread) was fulfilled with Jesus’ burial. The 3rd feast (Feast of Firstfruits) was fulfilled with Jesus’ resurrection from the dead.
The 4th feast (Feast of weeks), also called Shavuot or Pentecost, was fulfilled in Acts 2:1-4 when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the believers in Jerusalem. It was at this event that some of the outsiders thought the Christians were drunk. Peter stood up and quoted the prophet Joel and says today scripture is fulfilled. He quoted Joel 2:28-32. The fulfilled prophecy was the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and probably some sort of display of wonders in the sky and on the earth.
I believe the fulfillment of this feast has been partially fulfilled in Acts 2 and will be finally fulfilled during the Day of the Lord at the end of the great tribulation. Joel says that during the Day of the Lord the Holy Spirit will be poured out on all mankind. We have not seen the Day of the Lord yet. In this final fulfillment we will see God’s wrath being poured out on the wicked, the heavens will be shaken, the sun will loose some of its brightness, the moon will turn to blood and at that same time the Holy Spirit will be calling all men to repent and turn to Jesus.
After this 4th feast (Shavuot) occurs, then the 5th feast (Feasts of Trumpets) will occur where Jesus returns with a great trumpet sound (Matthew 24:29-31).
The 6th feast (Day of Atonement) is the day when the high priest would enter the Holy of Holies and atonement was made for the sins of the entire nation (Leviticus 16:29-34). This feast will be fulfilled as Jesus executes judgment on the wicked at Armageddon and the nation of Israel recognizes that Jesus is the Messiah. They will look on Jesus whom they have pierced and they will mourn for Him (Zechariah 12:10). The nation’s sins will be dealt with and their sins will be remembered no more (Isaiah 43:25).
The final feast (Feast of Tabernacles) will be fulfilled in the millennium when Jesus reigns from the temple in Jerusalem (Isaiah 27:13). Jesus will tabernacle among us.
A great book to read regarding the Feasts is “The Feasts of the Lord” by Kevin Howard and Marvin Rosenthal.Share this:
