Revelation 17: Babylon and the Kingdom of the Antichrist

The Woman Judgment Coming to the Great Harlot Revelation 17:1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters One of the seven angels from the previous chapter tells John of the coming judgment to the great whore. On the forehead of the great whore are the words, “Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth” (verse 5).  The great whore is Babylon.  The angel shows the judgment coming to Babylon. This chapter and the following chapter  describe in detail this coming judgment. In Revelation 16, the previous chapter, we also read of the destruction of Babylon. This destruction occurred in the seventh bowl judgment. The angel, who poured out the seventh bowl judgment, may be the same angel we see foretelling of the coming judgment to Babylon. And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his ...

Revelation 16: Seven Bowls, Armageddon and Jesus Returns as a Thief

The First Six Bowls of Wrath The prior chapter in Revelation, chapter 15, introduces the coming bowls of God’s wrath. A final sign appears in heaven. Those believers who overcame the Antichrist stand in heaven on a sea of glass and sing praises to God. The temple in heaven is opened and the seven angels come out from the temple ready to pour out their seven bowls of God’s wrath. Chapter 16 speaks to these seven judgments delivered by the seven angels. First Bowl of God’s Wrath: Grievous Sores on those with the Mark of the Beast Revelation 16:1-2 16:1 And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth. 16:2 And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image. The first bowl of God’s wrath is poured out on the earth. Those who have received the Mark of the Beast or worshiped his image are given loathsome and malignant sores ...

Revelation 15: The Third Sign, Seven Plagues and Heaven Opened

Third Sign in Heaven The Wrath of God is Finished Revelation 15:1 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God. The third sign in heaven signals the finishing of God’s wrath. The details for the third sign are not provided as with the first two signs. The first sign is found in Revelation 12:1-2 and the second sign is in Revelation 12:3-6.  We do know the third sign is great and marvelous. Seven angels come out from the temple in heaven (Revelation 15:6) with seven plagues. The timing of the third sign is either just prior to or just following the end of the Great Tribulation.  We are told these are the last of the plagues. God’s wrath is executed through the seven plagues. The plagues are poured out on the earth, the sun, and air. Is This the Only Time We See God’s Wrath? In Revelation God’s wrath is executed four times: The Day of the Lord as described in the following: The sixth seal (Revelation 6:17) His Second Coming (Revelation 19:11-19) On those who worship the beast, his ...

Revelation 14 in Bible Prophecy – God’s Wrath and Armageddon

Jesus Stand on the Earth Jesus Stands on Mount Zion with the 144,000 Revelation 14:1-5 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads. 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. 14:5 And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God. In Revelation 13 the Antichrist and the False Prophet rule over the earth for three and one-half years. Now we enter chapter ...

Revelation 13 in Bible Prophecy – The Antichrist and the False Prophet

Antichrist The Antichrist Given Power and Authority from Satan Revelation 13:1-10 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? 13:5 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them ...

Revelation 12 in Bible Prophecy – First Sign, Second Sign, Satan’s Wrath and Persecution of Israel

First Sign, Second Sign, Satan’s Wrath and Persecution of Israel First Sign Woman Clothed with the Sun Revelation 12:1-2 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: 12:2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. Picture of the First Sign Chapter 12 begins with the first of three signs appearing in heaven. The sign is of a woman clothed with the sun, the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. The woman cries out in pain to give birth to the child. What About Signs in the Heaven? God gave the sun, moon and stars to tell us when signs are to appear in the heavens. In Genesis 3:16, Moses describes what takes place on the fourth day of creation.  “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.” (Genesis 3:16) God created the sun, moon and stars not only ...

Revelation 11 in Bible Prophecy – The Temple, the Two Witnesses and the Coming Kingdom

Revelation 11 in Bible Prophecy – The Temple, the Two Witnesses and the Coming Kingdom Temple Profaned Measurement of the Temple Revelation 11:1-2 11: 1 And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. 11:2 But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months. Sequence of Events We take a step back in time. Chapter 10 finishes with the sixth trumpet. The angel tells John “there will be delay no longer,” the mystery is finished and John eats the little book of judgments and woes for a likely completion of the great tribulation. Revelation 11:1 does not follow with a “then” or “after these things.” It starts with the Greek word “kai” which means “and” or “also.”  The sequence of John’s vision does not indicate a chronological sequence of events. The Temple Desecrated for 42 Months The apostle John is given a reed and told to measure the temple of God, the altar ...

Revelation 10 in Bible Prophecy

Revelation 10 in Bible Prophecy – The Little Book An Angel holds the open book Revelation 10:1-11 10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire: 10:2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth, 10:3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices. 10:4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not. 10:5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are ...

Revelation 9 in Bible Prophecy – The fifth and Sixth Trumpets Fifth Trumpet Bottomless Pit Opened Revelation 9:1-11 9:1 And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. 9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. 9:3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. 9:4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. 9:5 And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. 9:6 And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall ...

Revelation 8 in Bible Prophecy

Revelation 8 in Bible Prophecy – The Seventh Seal and the First Four Trumpets Silence in Heaven Revelation 8:1 8:1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. Jesus, who is the Lamb of God, breaks the seventh and last seal and there is silence in heaven for 30 minutes. The sixth seal (chapter 6) is the Day of the Lord and the seventh seal follows it.  The Lord returns at the end of the Day of the Lord to save the Jews from destruction at the Battle of Armageddon. The silence may be at His second coming when He returns with all the saints to annihilate the wicked. This is speculative because we are not told why there is silence in heaven. Zechariah may be referring to the same event when he speaks of the return of the Lord to dwell with His people.  Those before the Lord are commanded to be silent because He is raised up from His holy habitation. “Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the Lord. And many ...
